Why Every Child Has the Right

What we believe

Persil believes that every child has the right to play, the right to explore, the right to be spontaneous … the right to be a child. For children growing up, getting dirty is a natural part of daily life. Parents can consider dirt as proof that their kids have had a great experience and developed new knowledge or skills.

Playing, exploring and experiencing the out of doors is an important part of being a child. Yes their clothes will get wonderfully dirty in the process, but with Persil’s help, it won’t matter.

Research results

We polled Kiwi mums to find out your thoughts on the importance of experiential learning and what you thought about giving children the right to be children and get dirty. The resulting research White Paper, called Children Being Children – a New Zealand Mother’s Perspective, serves to compare and contrast New Zealanders’ opinions with the results of a global survey.

The results told us that an overwhelming 92% of New Zealand mums think children are growing up too quickly these days, compared to 76% worldwide. Almost 75% of you feel it is important to protect childhood for your children. The good news is that New Zealand children are outdoors children. Responses indicate they are outside more than any other country's children, and are watching comparatively less television. Kiwi mums know that dirt is good!
